Ian Birch from Fatea Records reviews Ranjana Ghatak and Iona Lane’s EP Cove

The idea of fusion music isn't new; Afro Celt Sound System and The Imagined Village have been taking and mixing music from different cultures for many years. Now Iona Lane, a folk singer/songwriter from Yorkshire and Ranjana Ghatak, an Indian singer and composer from London have also combined to merge their respective traditions with each other. They met during Making Tracks 2022, which brought together musicians from Europe, Africa and the Middle East for a month long residency and tour with the objective of making music melding their own influences. The residency was in Cove Park and this collaboration has followed on from it.
